MINI BOOK HAUL

June 21, 2017

Soooooooo I have a problem.

I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't buy anymore books for the remainder of summer, and then this happened. I have no self control whatsoever when it comes to buying books. I'll be content with what I have on my bookshelf one minute, and then I'll find my Amazon cart to be have 50 books ready for purchase. It's an addiction that gets me in trouble sometimes, but one that I'm kind of proud to have? While others are addicted to buying cocaine, I'm addicted to buying books. I don't why I just said that.

Although this book haul is fairly short, I still wanted to post it because I'm pretty happy with my purchases and I want to share that with you guys. Maybe some of you have already read some of these books, and if so, please let me know what you think about them in the comments below. Maybe some of you will get some new books to add to your TBR list.

Regardless, I hope you guys enjoy this mini book haul!

HOW TO BE A BAWSE BY LILLY SINGH

From actress, comedian, and YouTube sensation Lilly Singh (aka ||Superwoman||) comes the definitive guide to being a bawse—a person who exudes confidence, reaches goals, gets hurt efficiently, and smiles genuinely because they’ve fought through it all and made it out the other side.

Told in her hilarious, bold voice that’s inspired over nine million fans, and using stories from her own life to illustrate her message, Lilly proves that there are no shortcuts to success.

WARNING: This book does not include hopeful thoughts, lucky charms, and cute quotes. That’s because success, happiness, and everything else you want in life needs to be fought for—not wished for. In Lilly’s world, there are no escalators, only stairs. Get ready to climb. - Goodreads

I don't willingly go out of my way and spend $15.30 on just any book. I'm really stingy with my money and $15 for a book on Amazon seemed like a lot for me, but I had to a make an exception for Ms. Singh over here. I've heard about Superwoman, but never paid that much attention to her until now. You could say I'm her number one fan now. I knew she wrote a book, but because she was a YouTuber I just brushed it aside because well, I've seen some of the books YouTubers release, and their not that great (in my opinion don't shoot me). But after watching a couple interviews and a one hour book tour video for her book, I just knew I had to have it. I've already read over 25 pages of it, and I'm loving it.

WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES BY CLARISSA PINKOLA ESTES

Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. Her name is Wild Woman, but she is an endangered species. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D., Jungian analyst and cantadora storyteller shows how women's vitality can be restored through what she calls "psychic archeological digs" into the ruins of the female unconsious. Using multicultural myths, fairy tales, folk tales, and stories, Dr. Estes helps women reconnect with the healthy, instinctual, visionary attributes of the Wild Woman archetype.

Dr. Estes has created a new lexicon for describing the female psyche. Fertile and life-giving, it is a psychology of women in the truest sense, a knowing of the soul. - Goodreads

I first heard of this book by Sarah K on Youtube and I just knew I had to get my hands on it. The whole concept of women and wolves and the similarities they share intrigued me and I wanted to learn more about it. I've already began to read it, and let me tell you, this isn't an easy book to read. There's a lot of terms I don't know and the information is dense. I've put it aside for now in hopes that I'll pick it up in the future.

IT ENDS WITH US BY COLLEEN HOOVER

Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up - she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price. -Goodreads

I've heard so many thing about Colleen Hoover and I've always wanted to try out some of her books, I just never knew where to begin. I saw one of my favorite Goodreads reviewers gave this book a 4 star rating, and I trust her reviews more than anything because she's lead me to some of my favorite books now. I kind of bought this book on a whim and I don't know too much about it, but hopefully it's a good one. I have a feeling it is.

IF YOU DARE BY A.R. TORRE

The rules are the same. I can't open the door. I can't leave. I can't kill anyone.

The only difference is, I don't set the rules anymore. Guards in grey uniforms do. It is everything I never wanted and everything I always deserved. I write to you now, from a prison cell. My home for the next twenty to thirty years.

That's the going term for murder. - Goodreads

AHHHHHHHH. If you know me, you know how much I love the Deanna Madden series by A.R. Torre. I read The Girl in 6E and Do Not Disturb, where I rated them both 5 stars. This series is absolutely amazing and I'm addicted to the characters, the plot lines, and the writing. After finishing Do Not Disturb, I knew I had to get my hands on the third and maybe the final book in the series. I'm so excited to read this!!!!!!

If all goes well, you can expect book reviews and possibly discussions on all 4 of these books. Pray for me to have some strength and that I don't make any more purchases in the future. I'm an incoming freshman and college ain't cheap.

Until next time,

k.m.
