BOOK REVIEW | DO NOT DISTURB BY A.R. TORRE

June 5, 2017

Disclaimer: Even though I think this is obvious, if you haven't read The Girl In 6E, don't read this review because it will spoil parts of the previous book.

Synopsis
Equal parts Dexter and 50 Shades, this is the eagerly awaited follow-up to the daring erotic thriller, The Girl in 6E, by A.R. Torre.

1. Don't leave the apartment.
2. Never let anyone in.
3. Don't kill anyone.

Plot
When it comes to this series, I never like to give out too much information about the plot because this is a suspenseful series. The lack of knowledge about the plot is what makes the reading experience the best. But I will give you a little snoop.

We all know how The Girl in 6E ended, and Do Not Disturb picks up a few weeks after the Ralph incident and Deanna's come to rescue, superhero moment. With her new taste of the outside world, Deanna's urges are at an all time high as she tries to be "normal" while thinking of how nice it would be to slit the throat of her next victim. Deanna continues to cam while maintaining a relationship with her boyfriend, Jeremy, aka the love of my life. Of course there is a threat that follows Deanna that only gets stronger as the story progresses, because without one, this wouldn't be a A.R. Torre original now would it?

The plot will have you shaking in your seat with your hands stalled, terrified to turn the page.

Characters
Deanna. Honestly, I love this woman. I absolutely love reading about broken characters. Characters that are fighting a darkness that grows within them. Deanna is a hard character to not love for me. Of course there were moments where I just wanted to shake her because of some of her choices, but overall, she's so interesting to read about. The depth to her character is still something that blows my mind. Even though the series is told from her POV primarily, I still feel like there's so much about her that I don't know. You never know what to expect from her. She still has secrets that even the reader doesn't know about.

Jeremy. I loved Jeremy the moment I met him. He's not a hard character to not love. He's sweet, caring, charming, and sexy as hell. My goodness. This man had me fanning myself. The chemistry between him and Deanna is of one of the strongest that I've read between two characters. There's so many reasons as to why Jeremy shouldn't be with Deanna, one of them being that she might kill him, but he stays with her anyway. He cares for her. He's there for her even when she can't be there for herself. Just like Deanna said, he might be her salvation.

Mike. Deanna's hacker. We got to know a little about him in the previous book, but we learned a lot more about him this time around. I don't know how I feel about Mike. I don't hate him but I'm not crazy about him. There's so much I still don't know about him, but I guess that comes with him being a hacker. I still find him interesting nonetheless. I would love to have his character explored more in the next and final book (I believe).

Writing
Engaging as hell. Torre knows how to keep her readers hooked. Do Not Disturb had the right amount of dialogue and description. The vocabulary itself was not too difficult to digest. With this being an erotic thriller, there's a lot of mature content. Torre does not shy away from anything in this book. She gives you just the right amount of description to have your skin crawling. The explicit scenes are tasteful yet raunchy in the best way possible. I just know that with Torre, her writing always exceeds my expectations. Phenomenal. Captivating. Stunning in it's entirety.

Final Thoughts

Literally, that's my final thought. This book left me speechless. Torre just keeps surprising me. I've never read a book that evoked so much emotion out of me. When I say my heart was beating so fast and my hands were literally SHAKING as I turned the pages, I'm not lying. I love it. I love it. I love it. The plot, the characters, the writing,  AH!

I've already bought If You Dare, and it's on it's way to my house as we speak!
